Through the use of our App, you will be able to keep parents informed of recent updates, new photo albums, upcoming events and more! Below you can find out how to keep in control of what is displayed on your school app and how to make any necessary changes. Once activated, navigate to the Add-Ons tab in the purple bar when logged into the website.
Click the Mobile App Tile Note: If your website serves multiple schools, you may have multiple instances of the app for each school. To access the setting for each school's app you will need to select the correct school from the drop-down at the top of the settings window. You will then be able to set different branding and choose a different set of items from the website to be included.
Within the School Details tab, you'll be able to edit the school's name as it appears on the app, the type of school (whether that be an academy or college), and the link to the school's website.
Within the School Branding tab, you have a couple of design change choices. You can change the main colour for the school within the app, as well as that, you can click on browse to insert an image for the school's thumbnail logo. Note: The colour setting will affect the background colour behind the logo, and any links that show in the app, so it needs to be a dark colour to ensure the links stand out.
Within the News Tab, you can choose if you want a news section within the app. You can also choose which news categories from your website are pulled through to the app.
Within the Events Tab, you can choose if you want the events area within the app. You can also choose which calendar events pull through to the App.
Within the Albums Tab, you can choose if you'd like any photo albums within the app. You will also choose which galleries from your website are pulled through to the app.
Where your school has also signed up for the e4education Parent Portal, use the options within the Add-Ons Tab to allow Newsletters, Email and/or Text Messages and Parents Evenings to be accessed through the app.
Within the Other Items, you will be able to choose whether or not you'd like a particular page from within your site to pull through to the app. To do so, click on the 'Add Page' button and click on 'Select'. This will open up a popup window much like the Sitemap View functionality within your site. Choose from the list of pages and you'll be able to pull through information from that page to the app. Note: When sharing pages to the Mobile App to appear in More Tab, you need to be aware that some types of content will not display as they do on the website.
If you have added a component to a page, this will not appear on the page shared within the app.
If you share a page which contains a template, the template styling will not show within the app. For example, a button will look like a standard link.
Shop products will not be displayed on pages when viewed through the app.
Within the Contact Tab, you have the ability to choose whether or not you want contact details to be displayed within the App. Further, you can change the contact details displayed using the fields here.
Once you have set up the app, you will be able to Send Notifications to parents when saving items which you have chosen to include.
To do this, tick 'Send App Notification' when saving an item. Only items that are included in the app will give you this option.
